Site Rules

This is a Militia site - You are welcome to post your concerns, or pose your questions about the militia if you seek to learn, but we will not tolerate any nonproductive posts that amount to nothing more than an attack on our values

Before posting any questions or replies to our board, we ask that you read and become familiar with our rules. SCM is a responsible community devoted to the revitalization of the militia of the several states and the restoration of our Republic. SCM is also devoted to providing a voice and a learning source for the modern citizen soldier. Our topics center on quality educational and theoretical issues on the subjects of, the constitution, militia organization and training and various legal and political aspects of the militia movement.

The patriot / Militia movement must do a better job of managing public opinion and we ( as individual posters) must be responsible for the content of the posts we make. SCM therefore strives to maintain the best possible image of the militiaman. Any post that is determined to contain content that is unbecoming of a militia man will be deleted. Flagrant misuse of posting privileges will result in suspension or revocation of those privileges.

SCM is not an Anti-Government site - The philosophy of SCM is straightforward: strict constitutionalism, non interventionism in foreign affairs, laissez-faire capitalism, individual rights, limited government, and republicanism; in short, the principles upon which this nation was founded. Our goal is to see the government restored to its original constitutional form.

We oppose: statism, liberalism, tribalism, socialism, collectivism, internationalism, democracy (mob rule by the majority over the minority), Corruption in government, Socialism, Fascism, Communism, altruism, pull politics, and the New World Order; in short, the philosophies of all tyrannies.

We oppose the federalization and militarization our local police.

We oppose the forces of federal and international tyranny threatening our unalienable rights of life, liberty, and property.

SCM stands in firm support of the constitutionally limited federal Republic of sovereign States as envisioned by the founding fathers. We firmly support the unalienable Rights of We the People, including the Rights of Life, Liberty and Property and the Right to resist tyranny and the usurpation of of constitutionally delegated powers as enumerated in the Declaration of Independence, equal opportunity for all and special privilege for none.

Globalization:

The United Nations and its underlying philosophy of one-world government and socialist economics is an abominable evil. There is no compelling national interest underlying the foreign policy of the federal government. The conditions of treaties made with foreign governments force changes in our laws and override the Constitution. Foreign aid is nothing less than forced redistribution of this nation's wealth to impoverished socialist gangs and Third World savages. The belief of the internationalists is that we owe something to the rest of the world; We deny this.

We DO NOT advocate the violent overthrow of the United States Government. (Although we believe there is cause, in theory, by virtue of the government's cumulative improbability over the last 133 years, and sufficient historical and philosophical precedent, by virtue of the Declaration of Independence and the writings of the Founding Fathers, to justify it.) We do advocate resisting government tyranny at all levels. We DO NOT advocate the initiation of force in doing so. We do advocate appropriate force-in-kind in self defense. Our goal is to see the federal government muzzled, shackled and cast back into its constitutional prison. We do advocate active resistance against the United Nations.

We pledge our lives, honor, and fortunes to ensure that our Republic lives on forever. If you do not concur with this statement, you will have a rough going of it on the forums.

SCM is not an anarchy, terrorist, or bomb site, nor do we allow such discussion.

Racism - Has no place here on this site. As per the Declaration of Independence, ...all men are created equal. If you have a problem with that, go find a Klan meeting, you wont find any friends here. What is welcome is factual, rational, respectable discussions on race relations and how they effect Liberty and their impact on the Militia and what can be done to improve upon such relations. We do not tolerate immaturity or ignorance in any way, shape, or form. SCM is for serious discussion about serious topics. All discussions are to be conducted in a civilized and intelligent manner. As we get a large number of individuals who simply do not understand this, these rules have been created for the benefit of our members. It is suggested that you read the threads for some time before you make any post to get an understanding of how we operate. Failure to comply with these rules will get you banned; there is zero tolerance towards violators. You can thank the many idiots who caused trouble for making these rules necessary.

Our most important rule is that you respect your fellow members. Flaming - Name calling, baiting another member, antagonizing, disrespect, or demeaning another member are grounds for immediate termination of your membership. Disagreements are common among strong willed individuals, if you feel it necessary to engage in such activities, do it off the board, as it will not be tolerated here.

Respect the Privacy of Others - Do not post another member's personal information, be it his/her name, address, phone number, or likeness without that member's permission, unless that member has already posted his/her own information previously.

Member Profiles - No Member may have more than one profile (user name).

No Pornography - We all appreciate the beauty of the human form, but if you post pics, be sure the subjects are clothed. This goes to include any links as well.

Profanity - The profanity filter has been turned off. This does not mean that you are free to use language that would make a sailor blush. We understand that the occasional explicate language is sometimes needed to make a point or properly display your emotions. Foul language while permissible, is discouraged from regular use.

Please refrain from blatantly declaring that you have violated the law. Word your posts in such a manner that describe your activities as theoretical. Expect to have your posts deleted or edited if you do otherwise.

You will be banned for:

1. Advocating any illegal activity.
2. Advocating military action of any kind
3. A call to arms
4. Blatant violation of the rules after being warned by Staff.

Furthermore, You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or inaccurate, harassing, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law

SCM has existed for some years, and every imaginable question has probably been asked before. SCM members will help those who help themselves; they will not answer questions that could be easily solved by a quick search. This wastes your time and ours. A search involves not only SCM, but the Internet as well.

We strongly discourage new members from asking questions on their very first post. You should take the time to browse the posts for some time before making any post at all. We would rather have new members comment on existing topics rather than start asking questions right away because of the large number of people who ask the same questions over and over. If you have a question, take the time to thoroughly research the answer, and then summarize the research you have done of other resources in your post. Explain in clear terms what it is you want to know, and what research you have done to find out. Well thought and properly formed questions will be more likely to get a useful answer.

SCM is divided up into several sections with different discussion themes. Please post your questions or information in the proper section. Descriptions of what is appropriate for each section are listed. Posts in the wrong section will be moved to the appropriate one, posting the same question in several sections (cross posting) is forbidden. Please keep all replies to a post on topic, this means not discussing matters unrelated to the thread or the section, instead start a new thread. Try to avoid creating too many new threads by combining related questions into a single topic, or by posting in older threads.

Forum Moderators - Every section has several moderators to insure compliance with the rules. They have been hand picked by the Administration. They have the final say in all matters pertaining to the forums for which they moderate. They are authorized to ban members from their forums, and make recommendations for banishment from the entire site to the administration. If you are offended by the content of any particular forum, stay out of that forum.

Moderators are not tyrants - They are there to keep their forums flowing in a positive, productive direction. They are, in most cases technical experts in the fields for which is the subject matter of their forums, that being said, they are there to provide information, and answer questions. Long story short, they have a job to do, and we will not tolerate any personal attacks directed at the way a moderator runs his/her forum. If you object with the way a moderator runs his show, bring your concerns to the attention of the administration either by using any of the Contact Us links, or by posting your concerns in the Questions and Answers forum.

Again, there is zero tolerance for violations. No disrespect or flaming of any moderator or administrator will be tolerated. All SCM staffers have volunteered considerable time and effort for a largely thankless job. They have earned positions of respect and authority within the community, and are not to be demeaned. Members are expected to adhere to the same standards for each other as well. These rules may be changed at any time, and other rules may be imposed on certain people as the staff sees fit. Considering the real-time nature of this bulletin board, it is impossible for us to review messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Please remember that we at SCM do not actively monitor the contents of, and are not responsible for, any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of SCM or any entity associated with SCM. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.

There are other miscellaneous rights here.

We reserve the right to delete, lock, or edit any message for any or no reason whatsoever. The same applies to bans. Please remember that SCM is not a democracy, it is enlightened despotism. The staff will listen to suggestions and concerns of all members, apply the rules in a fair manner, and treat members respectfully, but ultimately will do as they see fit. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless SCM, any administrators or moderators, and their agents with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s).

If a non-staff member wishes to use any/all part of a copyrighted work beyond that allowed by prior fair usage law by another SCM member, contact that member to obtain their permission.

SCM members who are not staff also agree that no part of SCM, or anything posted on SCM, may be used by them for profit or trade, for either real or virtual goods/services, in whole or in part, without express prior written permission via e-mail by SCM Administrators

Nothing on SCM (text/picture/video/audio/program file/s in any format, citations/quotations, hyperlinks, etc) may be posted in whole, or in part, on other websites/boards/newsgroups/e-mail/chat room or any other format, whether physical or virtual, digital or analog, without express written permission via e-mail of the author/creator of the protected work.

In case of copyright dispute with a third (non-Forum member) party, you hold SCM , administrators and/or staff, and any/all members blameless and free of responsibility for your illegal actions and free of any/all legal costs incurred by you and any other party.

This list of rules is not all inclusive.

  • What is a Militia?
Throughout history, a militia has been defined as a group of citizens who are not professional or paid soldiers, who operate as a defensive force in cases of emergencies. At the time the Constitution of the United States of America was written, no definition was needed for the term militia, as it was understood by everyone that it consisted of all able-bodied men in the colonies, which had a compulsory duty to defend their homes, communities and colony, who were required to keep and bear arms, and to train under threat of fine by their local committees of safety. However, by way of the Militia Act of 1903 known as the "Dick Act", Congress attempted to redefine the term militia and into two distinct classifications. They defined the "organized militia" as the National Guard and Naval Militia in each State. The "reserve militia" was then defined as all men between the ages of 17 and 45 who are not part of the organized militia. The National Defense Act of 1916 passed by Congress changed reserve militia to unorganized. It is important to question whether or not Congress has been afforded the right to redefine a term as it was originally understood when the Constitution was written. Such a power to redefine the meaning of words cannot be found anywhere in the Constitution of the United States. All the people of our nation capable of bearing arms are in fact militia. The Supreme Court held that the National Guard exists today as a creation authorized not by the power of Congress to train and organize the militia, but simply its power to raise armies. Section 311 of US Code Title 10, entitled, "Militia: composition and classes" in its entirety: "(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard. (b) The classes of the militia are — (1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and (2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia."
  • How do I join a Militia?
Since each male between the age of 17 and 45 under current federal law are part of the unorganized militia, you do not have to do anything to join if you fall into that classification, as You Are The Militia. Now, you might consider enlisting in the National Guard by visiting a local recruiting station, however you should understand that as a member of the National Guard you will be compelled to the swearing of two oaths, for your service to both the State and the Federal Government, the latter of which may unjustly compel you to duty outside of our nation to conduct offensive military actions against the sovereign people of foreign lands. You should also understand that the National Guard isn't really a militia in the classic sense, according to the Supreme Court. Its creation they said is based under the federal power to raise armies, Joining the "unorganized militia" can be a confusing concept for some, but the fact of the matter is that you are pretty much already are a member if you reside in the United States and have not been specifically exempted. However, the confusion stems from the fact that Congress has failed in its duty to provide for organizing, arming and disciplining the "unorganized militia", reserving such duties to the States and to the people respectively. If your State does not provide these functions, they are left to the people themselves to provide, unless your State Constitution or laws prohibit the formation of such organizations or has a complete ban against paramilitary training. Even in such States however, you may not have your right to peacefully assemble or keep and bear arms infringed upon without such acts violating the Constitution. Still, it is important to understand the laws of your State and its Constitution before joining or forming your own militia organization, civilian defense force or committee of safety and information. While every man, woman and child who is capable of bearing arms, has the moral duty to protect life, liberty and property when they are in peril, the government may criminally prosecute you for performing or merely preparing to perform this duty.
  • What does a Militia Do?
Since the primary purpose of the militia is to protect life, liberty and property, most groups train and organize for this specific purpose. Training usually includes activities related to communications, physical fitness, life saving techniques, weapon safety, marksmanship, drilling and formation movements, self-defense and a variety of military tactics. Many groups also provide a broad array of important services to their local communities, usually under the direction of or cooperation with their local law enforcement agency or county sheriff. Such services might include the establishment of a neighborhood watch program, Civilian Emergency Response Teams (CERT), search and rescue teams, volunteer firefighters and even auxiliary police forces. Federal and State obligations of the militia to execute the laws of the union, suppress insurrection and repel invasions exist when either called forth by Congress or the Governor of your State. In these cases, you fall under the command of the President of the United States or your State Governor respectively. It is entirely reasonable to conclude that those State and Federal functions would also apply locally within your community, and that you would fall under the command of your local elected militia officers, who are given such authority by the people of your community, i.e. the local civil authority within a political jurisdiction.
  • Isn't the militia made up of racists, terrorist or other extremists?"
No. This misconception has been created through the efforts of political organizations such as the Anti-Defamation League, who may be opposed to the broad ownership of guns, as well as broadcast organizations and members of the press, who often seek out the most vile actions of a few persons claiming to be patriots or members of a militia. Through their media campaigns and reporting, they highlight the misguided actions of such persons or groups either unknowingly or purposely to degrade the image of militia as a whole. Unfortunately, as in any society, there are individuals who have little or no tolerance of others based on race, ethnicity, religion or political points of view. Their hatred leads them to say and do things that are essentially evil. The majority of militia organizations will immediately remove any member discovered to have such views. Any organization that operates with a disregard for the rights and liberties of others, act to threaten or intimidate communities, or discriminates against members of any other group based on hatred or intolerance are not worthy to be considered as defenders of liberty.
